“ My family was looking for an alternative place to eat sushi for a birthday dinner. We stopped by a little late and ordered the premium set for 2 (but for 4 people). The portion size is pretty big, so we were pretty full for 4 people. Whenever we order from here whether it was dining in or delivery/take out, the fish is very fresh. I forgot to tell them I didn't like spicy, but they didn't give us any special rolls with spicy in them so that worked out really well. The space might not be very big, but it's decent food and intimate setting. ”
“ 4.25 Let me start by saying that I am not a big seafood person, nor am I particularly fond of sushi. I enjoy salmon, tuna, fluke, and yellowtail, but beyond those basics, I'm completely lost. My wife and her sister were in the mood for Japanese food, and this is a place they have visited several times, so I tagged along. If you're familiar with this part of Northern Boulevard, you know how many restaurants there are and how annoying it can be to find parking. When you enter, several people greet you. The place is wide open and clean, with a small bar up front and the sushi station towards the back. The three of us opted for the Omakase, which includes 16 pieces. Overall, it was pretty good. Were there a few items I could have done without? Of course, especially since I'm not a seafood fan. Let's start with the things I did enjoy: Sapporo beer (haha), monkfish liver (surprisingly), sea bream, seared scallop, hamachi, salmon, tuna, and my dessert, the seared wagyu beef. My least favorite item was the sea snail--I must have been chewing that for at least five minutes. The other items I didn't mention were decent. Overall, it was a good meal. Why am I giving it a 4.25? It's pricey ($138 per person for the Omakase), so if you're coming here for that, be prepared to spend some money. ”
“ We came here because we were told that "this was one of the best sushi places" and I was just...whelmed. Now, is the sushi nice? Yes. It is the BEST I've ever had? No. And for that price? Definitely not. The staff was nice enough and they don't do a weird kitchen tax or guaranteed gratuity for 6 or more guests which I liked. However, the sushi was crazy expensive for what you get. Now of course, this isn't your standard Americanized sushi place. They do seem to be the real deal. And the quality is really nice, from at least what I could tell anyway. I certainly didn't hate it. Would I return again? No, not for the price. It just isn't worth it to me. However, I would encourage others to try it out for themselves. It may be worth it to you ”
“ I took my friend out for his birthday & he recommended that we head to Tara for some omakase. For the island, this did not disappoint. The wagyu, uni & scallop sushi pieces were the fav of the night. Will definitely be back with some of my friends since Tara is one of the best for sushi on the island! ”
“ Cozy local spot with fresh sushi/sashimi and tasty appetizers. We opted for the upgraded version of the Sushi and Sashimi for two and were not disappointed. Service was friendly and attentive. ”
“ My friend and I ordered the tara sushi set with a spicy yellowtail and a bora bora roll. It was delicious! Ghey served us hot tea and water. The service was excellent. But it ain't cheap! If you pay with cash, you don't have to pay tax. ”
“ Got to try Tara in person for a party event. We had the omakase set with unlimited drinks. Overall, I feel that the fish is good quality, but the execution of the pieces could be improved. Service is great, and the restaurant is cozy. Favs of the night: Monkfish liver, king salmon, bluefin tuna, uni, seared wagyu with uni, and caviar Pros: - Pretty presentation - Fresh grated wasabi Cons: - Rice to fish ratio is completely off, where you can't grab the piece without everything falling apart - A bit too much wasabi that it overpowered the fish - There could be less seasoning and sauce so that the quality of the fish can shine ”
“ First time trying out this spot, and I ordered the chirashi don ($28). It looked super fresh and beautiful. It came with 8 pieces of sashimi, ikura (salmon roe), pickled radish, and pickled ginger. It tasted amazing and fresh, but it didn't fill me up. Since its dinner, I kind of wish they threw in more sashimi pieces. Definitely gotta order some extra grub. The interior was modern, and the employee was really nice. ”
“ Quality of the sushi and sashimi is extremely fresh. The omakase is about $130 and has a variety of great cuts of sushi...uni, toro, scallop, ebi, king salmon, tuna and the chef carefully prepares everything in front of you. I've also gotten the boat for 2 and I like the variety provided as well. ”
